Drawer organisers are one of those purchases you put off until you can't stand the chaos anymore. I've been looking at the Lifewit Extendable Cutlery Organiser, which promises to solve the universal problem of jumbled cutlery for just £11.36. That's proper budget territory for kitchen storage.
The key selling point here is the adjustable width – it stretches from 30cm to nearly 50cm, which should fit most UK kitchen drawers. After studying the specs and diving into customer feedback, I reckon this could be a smart buy for anyone wanting drawer order without spending serious money. But there are a few things to consider first.
The Lifewit's party trick is its sliding extension mechanism. At 30cm wide when contracted, it expands to 49.8cm when fully stretched – that's a proper range that should accommodate most kitchen drawers. The buckle design is meant to prevent the partitions from sliding about once you've got them positioned, which addresses my biggest gripe with cheap drawer organisers.
From what I can gather from the product specs, the mechanism uses grooves and a sliding system rather than the flimsy spring-loaded approach you see on some budget organisers. This should mean it stays put once adjusted, though I'd expect some occasional tweaking over time.
The compartment count is a bit confusing – the listing mentions both 7-9 compartments depending on how you count them. From the product images, it looks like you get several fixed sections plus some that adjust as the unit expands. The larger sections are clearly meant for serving spoons and cooking utensils, whilst the narrower slots handle regular cutlery.

At 38cm deep, it should fit standard UK kitchen drawers without leaving wasted space at the back. The groove design is supposed to make it easier to grab utensils, which is a nice touch that suggests someone actually thought about daily use.
For £11.36, you're getting polypropylene (PP) plastic that's BPA-free. That's about what I'd expect at this price – not premium, but perfectly adequate for the job. The black finish should hide minor scuffs and marks better than white or clear alternatives.
The main concern with budget plastic organisers is usually durability under daily use. Constant sliding of cutlery in and out can wear down cheaper materials, and the expansion mechanism adds another potential failure point. Without long-term testing data, this remains the biggest question mark.
Lifewit markets this as multi-purpose, suitable for cosmetics, stationery, or craft supplies. Whilst I'm always sceptical of products claiming to do everything, the adjustable width does make it more versatile than fixed-size alternatives. The 38cm depth might be too much for some bathroom drawers, but it could work well for desk organisation or craft rooms.

The key limitation is that it's designed primarily for cutlery-sized items. You won't fit bulky kitchen gadgets or large tools, so don't expect it to solve every storage challenge.
At this price point, something has to give. The plastic won't have the weight and premium feel of pricier alternatives, and I'd expect the expansion mechanism to develop some play over time. The compartments aren't removable either, so you're stuck with the layout Lifewit has chosen.
Without Amazon ratings to reference, I'm working mainly from specs and product descriptions. This always makes me more cautious about durability claims, especially with budget kitchen storage that gets heavy daily use.
The Lifewit Extendable Cutlery Organiser delivers solid value for money if you need basic drawer organisation on a budget. The adjustable width is genuinely useful, and the price is hard to argue with. However, don't expect premium durability – this is a functional solution rather than a luxury purchase.
